Inside the collapse of Bank of Clark County
"This American Life" takes you behind the scenes at a federal seizure.
Most of the time, Chicago Public Radio's "This American Life" is a weekly dose of quirky Americana, narrated in similarly quirky style by host Ira Glass and contributors David Sedaris, Sarah Vowell and others. This past weekend's show, titled "Scenes From a Recession," took a local turn, as NPR reporter Chana Jaffe-Walt looks into the federal seizure of Vancouver, Wash.-based Bank of Clark County, one of eight (and counting) local banks that have been seized by regulators in this economy. The segment starts a little more than 20 minutes into the show, but the entire thing is worth a listen.
