Tandy Trower recently left Microsoft after 28 years. At the Technologizer, he reveals the little-known past behind Windows. Trower (somewhat outdated bio here) was given the task of releasing Windows 1.0, a job that even inside Microsoft was considered to be a career-killer. In fact, in this article, he says he suspected he got the job because he thought Microsoft was trying to get rid of him. Go read.
